Phil Cade

Philip Cade (June 12, 1916, in Charles City, Iowa – August 28, 2001, in Winchester, Massachusetts) was an amateur race car driver from the United States. He entered one Formula One Grand Prix, the 1959 United States Grand Prix, with a privately entered Maserati 250F, but failed to start due to engine problems.
From 1951 onwards, Cade raced extensively in SCCA races on the East Coast of the United States campaigning a 1935 V8RI Grand Prix Maserati (Chassis 4501). In the early fifties the Maserati was converted to Chrysler Hemi power and in this configuration Cade won, among may other events, the 1954 SCCA National Formula Libre Championship and the Seneca Cup at Watkins Glen in 1958. Cade and his V8RI also participated successfully at the Mount Washington Hillclimb from the mid-fifties to the early 1960s.
